The Depths of Depravity

"Hi.  My name is Stephen and I'm addicted to The O.C."  Yeah it's embarassing, but the little drama of the rich and pathetic of Newport Beach, CA has me completely enthralled.  I'm a big Seth fan.  But the whole Julie Cooper, Caleb Nichol, Luke Ward, Jimmy Cooper, Hailey Nichol, Ryan Atwood, Marissa Cooper dodecahedron (triangle is much, much too small a word to describe the web of intrigue in this show) is really catchy . . .

No wonder teens across America are tuning in.  It makes me sad, though, to realize that most of them are eating this drama up hook line and sinker and "wanting" the O.C. life instead of recognizing the poverty they're witnessing.

I'm back, and I'm confused . . .

In 1992 I was, or turned, 14 years old.  (See I was born in Nov. 1978).  Apparently, Bill Clinton was 44.

"For most of my working life, I was the youngest person doing what I was doing. Then one day I woke up and I was the oldest person in every room," said Clinton, who was a youthful 44 when he was first elected president, in 1992.

This year, in 2006, I will be turning 28.  But, 14 years after 1992 Bill Clinton will be turning 60.

        Bill Clinton hates it, but it is true: He will be 60 on Saturday, and he is often the oldest man in the room.

Umm . . .  how did Bill Clinton age two more years than I did over the same period of time?
