Cal Thomas: "Do we really think that America is special for some reason, when our unrighteousness must produce a foul smell in the nostrils of a holy God?"
Yes. America is special for "some reason" -- not because of our righteousness (or any sort of merit) but for the favor that God has shown us while we are yet far off from Him: God desires to dwell among us, even within the "fleshy arm of Man" that Thomas speaks of so contemptuously.
