Did anyone notice? Most people are commenting on how Black Eyed Peas rocked the house at the Democratic National Convention. I know most bloggers are probably not very familiar with Black Eyed Peas, and so the wouldn't be familiar with the lyrics of this song . . . but while tonight Black Eyed Peas sang "Let's Get it Started in Here" the actual lyrics of the song say "Let's Get RETARDED in Here."
Now, I'm sure many a conservative blogger will have a field day with the jokes . . . I'm not laughing.
I hate that word. I find it offensive. As offensive as "nigger." The first time I heard the song I couldn't believe it. I know, I know in pop culture that word just means getting "crunk," letting loose, acting crazy . . . It's still offensive.
Where were the Kennedy-Shrivers? They still sit on the Board for the Special Olympics.
With all their Politically Correct garbage, their talk of rights, their talk of equality . . . they still manage to be offensive.
Of course, why am I surprised? They're just offending the "retarded." The weak and innocent who can't speak up for themselves. This would follow a pattern wouldn't it . . . the unborn are innocents who can't speak for themselves either . . .
Of course, the democrats know this is offensive . . . they're just counting on the fact that most people won't know. They count on that for a lot of things. That's why I find them dispicable.
And what did you think about the Democrats' message of more jobs, better education and healthcare for all Americans? Or can the Democrats only do bad things in your eyes, to the point that you even feel the need to criticize their musical selection?

They have been preaching better education for years yet the Teachers Union is a wholly owned subsidary of the DNC. The colleges and universities are overwhelmingly liberal yet they want the government to fund these institutions. Public education is a total travesty and throwing more money down the toilet will do no good. The cities that spend the most also have the lowest graduation levels.
Healthcare for all Americans, please visit Canada and England and Cuba for their healthcare. What don't want to wait a year for a catscan. I deal with socialized medicine via the military hospitals and I would not wish it on anybody. John Edwards and his frivolous law suits saw as c-sections and cystic fibrosis has raised the cost of healthcare for all Americans. No surprise trial lawyers totally favor the Democrats.
Message of more jobs? Through what - tax increases. More and more regulatory laws attacking businesses. They also promised that the laws they past regarding the cable industry would lower the price.
They talk a good game but since their plans on not based on human nature they never work. Whatever you subsidize you get more of.
And even if their promises are true than do you weigh them against embryonic stem-cell reseach, gay marriage, abortion on demand? Hey Hitler put in a good road system and they had socialized medicine. Of course the slaughter started in the hospitils with euthansia to reduce the costs of healtcare.
All the money funneled through the federal government gets siphoned off in red tape. Money that is suppose to help provide a safety-net to those in needs is only about 25 cents on the dollar. The concept of subsidiarity balks in front of big government. I bet the Church I go to does more for the poor than in comparable government institution. Preferential love for the poor requires human contact and not an account number with welfare. My life has changed because of contact with homeless people, if I had left the problem to the government - this can not happen.

Nathan,
Relax. I know that individual Democrats do many great things. Heck, I have a family full of Democrats doing great things. Their message of jobs, better education, and healthcare was not clear. They said a few pithy comments about how Kerry would do that by rolling back the tax cuts for the richest 2% of Americans but they did not lay out, in any clear way, how they seek to pursue these ends.
I am pretty sure, however, that I would probably disagree with the programs, not because I hate Democrats, but because there is a fundamental philosophical distinction between the way I believe Government should function and the way I have seen the Democrats articulate the way Government should function.
That being said, I have serious issues with some Republican programs and goals as well, however fundamentally (GW BUSH not withstanding) my philosophy of the role of government and civil participation squares more solidly with the Conservative principles at the core of the Republican party platform.
I am not, however, a Republican. I did not vote for GW Bush in the last election and neither did I vote for Al Gore. I have not decided if I will vote for Bush in this election either, however that is because I live in Texas where he is sure to win the Electoral votes so it frees me up to vote for the candidate that most closely represents what I believe.

You're both either ignorant of Democratic policy, or you're lying. If it's the former, you shouldn't talk about something you know nothing about; if it's the latter, I'm not surprised. Catholics are, apparently, prone to lying about other people. It seems to run rampant across Catholic blogs.
Jeff -- I'm not going to vote for George Bush because the Church is obsessed, in an unhealthy way, with what goes on in people's bedrooms (this is in response to your question about gay marriage). I don't give a damn if gays get married; I do, however, care if my family has a home and if starving people have food. If all Bush has to offer the world is opposition to gay marriage, he can save it for when conservatism regains popularity (in other words, NEVER).

Nathan, would you care to point out where I am either ignorant or lying?
Posted by: Stephen | Jul 30, 2004 at 01:21 AM
You said that their message of jobs, education and healthcare was not clear. That's not true. That's practically all they discussed for all four days of the Convention. You either didn't watch enough of it to know that, or you deliberately lied about it.
My comment was really more directed at Jeff, who incorrectly said:
"John Edwards and his frivolous law suits saw as c-sections and cystic fibrosis has raised the cost of healthcare for all Americans. No surprise trial lawyers totally favor the Democrats."
Not true. John Edwards represented many clients who has serious cases, who not only deserved justice, but needed the money they won to get medical treatment for the injuries caused them by medical malpractice and such. It cannot be helped if doctors have gotten too greedy to do their jobs right, and end up hurting people by malpractice. That's not the fault of the victims or their lawyers, it's the fault of greedy and incompetent doctors.
"Message of more jobs? Through what - tax increases. More and more regulatory laws attacking businesses."
This was what compelled me to say that y'all were either ignorant or lying. The Democrats have stated, again and again, that there will be no tax increases. They are rolling back tax cuts for the 2% of wealthiest Americans, while retaining tax cuts for 98% of Americans. As for regulatory laws attacking businesses, that's not true either. All they're going to do is close tax loopholes that allow companies to benefit from outsourcing jobs to India and Japan, and they're going to actually give tax incentives to companies who either stay in this country or bring jobs back, thus creating more jobs here without "attacking" anyone. It's the Republicans who constantly attack everyone, not the Democrats.
"My life has changed because of contact with homeless people, if I had left the problem to the government - this can not happen."
Jeff, idealism is not going to bring food to the starving, clothing to the naked and shelter to the homeless. Yes, you work with homeless people, but how many Christians don't? What are we supposed to do until Christians get back to their responsibility in the world? Let these people die because the government shouldn't do what Christians are supposed to be doing? If the Church isn't going to do it, and apparently the Church isn't, then the government has to.
The Church is too busy, these days, fighting against gay marriage and abortion to adequately take care of the poor. So the government has to do something, or these people will die.

Nathan must remember that the Democrats support abortion. Their roots, therefore, are blood-spattered and corrupt. Nothing they do after that, no matter how thickly coated with good intentions, can come to any good. It's like saying that beautiful flowers planted outside the Nazi prison camps make what's happening inside somehow right. The Democrats can go to hell. And they probably will. Remember, the word "fetus" is just the modern term for "nigger." And when I look at a room full of Democrats, all I see is a room full of modern slave owners.

Nathan, if you're the same Nathan who posted the novena, you'd better get your Catholicism straightened out. On one page you're offering prayers to the most pure Virgin Mary, and on another page you're posting messages supporting gay marriage. You cannot hold both positions and be honest.

On a lighter note, the words of another popular song from the Black Eyed Peas come to mind....picture these words echoing in the hall after some of the lame speeches....
Shut Up, Just Shut Up Shut Up -3x
Shut It Up, Just Shut Up Shut Up
Shut Up, Just Shut Up Shut Up -3x
Shut It Up, Just Shut Up Shut Up
Poetry in motion ;-) Full lyrics at http://usuarios.lycos.es/themusikzone/black_eyes_peas%20shut%20up.htm.
