Godspy also has the text of the speech that Rocco Buttiglione gave at a conference on Catholics and Political life in Madrid back in November. I wish some of our American Catholic politicians would read this and be formed by it. Buttiglione is a friend of the Movement, and adds to the discourse that the Movement has always had with political life in Europe. In fact, one of the hallmarks of CL has always been to actively engage the culture, including the field of politics. Buttiglione's case indicates why this continues to be an important task.
Msgr. Lorenzo Albacete wrote a good article (Faith, Politics, and the Scandal of Christ) a while back on the question of poltics and the person of Christ. It's a great read, and gives what I think is the necessary response to the America's "separation of church and state."
