Sage Franics, Mercury Rev, and The Chemical Brothers . . . I'm a big fan of indie rock, and I'm a big fan of Coachella ... the town. When I was in college I participated in, and later lead the "Coachella Seminar" through the Center for Social Concerns at Notre Dame. It was a week long immersion experience in the life of Southern California migrant workers. We stayed with families from the parish of Nuestra Senora de Soledad and spent the week visiting vineyards, fruit packing facilities, Palm Springs, St. Francis church (a replica of the Church at Asisi), and everything in between.
I really came to love the families that hosted us and provided us with a great weekend. They were a community of committed Christians who had come together through a retreat, based on the Cursillo that was written by a Holy Cross priest.
Anyway, I haven't been back to Coachella since I was a Junior at Notre Dame. But I just found out about the Coachella Valley Music Festival, and certainly this is a reason to make a visit to the scorching California Desert.
let me know if you go or when you do and i may just go with you!

I've met Sage Francis a few times; I booked him for a music festival I helped organize in my home town in 2001. Nice guy, very talented, but pretty intense!
Would've been nice to go to Coachella... Buck 65 and the Arcade Fire also played and are worth checking out if you haven't yet.
